Earthquake Kits

With the recent earthquakes that have been hitting close to home here in San Diego County, one of the questions you may be asking is “Am I ready?”  The following is a good reference list of things you’ll want to consider having close by in the event we have a major quake in the near future.

After a major disaster the usual services we take for granted, such as running water, refrigeration, and telephones, may be unavailable. Experts recommend that you should be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least three days (72 hours). Store your household disaster kit in an easily accessible location.  Put contents in a large, watertight container (e.g. a large plastic garbage can with a lid and wheels) that you can move easily.
