I am approached a regular basis by candidates looking for a way to prepare for their career journey, or more specifically, a fire academy or job that they were just accepted into. Typically these candidates don’t have a lot of money or time. So how can someone work around these obstacles and still get in shape?
If you feel like the description of “short on money and time” describes you and your situation, I do have some good news: push-ups. The push-up is an exercise that requires zero equipment, zero money and also very little time. What it will require though, is you to drop some preconceived notions you may have about the exercise and it’s value to you while on your career journey….

The road towards becoming a Paramedic will require you to take a number of different steps over the course of time, some tougher than others. Medic programs typically look for a blend of schooling and experience before you can even sit down to take the written entrance exam. In general, you’ll need to take the following steps in order to prepare for Paramedic school:
* Earn First Responder/First Aid certificate (prerequisite for EMT class)
* Earn EMT certificate
* Work as an EMT for a year
The bullet points listed above represent a 1-2 year time span, yet many people that are involved in this career journey don’t have a good grasp of the remaining requirements, and how important they can be towards their career…
